2. SAU student found deceased in his dorm room – student Sean Carrington a 22 year old from Winchester, Arkansas was found by his roommate on Wednesday the 19th passed away in Talbot Hall. 3. Magnolia police chase ends with arrest – Jonathan Berry at age 25 was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, three counts of criminal mischief, theft of property over $25,000, fleeing by vehicle and parole violation. He had stolen a 1950’s model Chevrolet Bel Air on Wednesday. The pursuit started about 1:40 p.m. and ended at 1:55 p.m. (Magnolia Reporter)

4. Missing jogger Sydney Sutherland killer followed her – Sydney left her house to go on a jog on August 19th. She was kidnapped and raped by her killer Quake Lewellyn. Lewellyn and Sutherland knew each other before this happened and Lewellyn even joined the search party to help find Sydney. Lewellyn is currently imprisoned in the Randolph County Jail. (REFINERY29)

5. Coronavirus in Arkansas – The number of cases are going up daily in Arkansas. There have been approximately 58,024 cases in the state of Arkansas. Along with those cases there have been around 732 deaths. There has been 284 positive cases in Columbia County and 13 deaths. (Arkansas Department of Health)

6. GAC pushes back fall sports for now – The Great American Conference went from just pushing the game dates back a couple weeks to completely pushing the season back to the spring. The plan as of right now is to play I the spring but these plans may also change if nothing changes with the virus. Their main focus was to get all students back in school. All fall sports are suspended through December 31st. (Arkansas Democrat Gazette)

7. Trump calls for ‘Law and Order’ in Wisconsin – After the shooting of Jacob Blake, a black man, by a police officer, President Trump tweeted that he was sending federal troops to the site at which protest have been happening every day since. President Trump said, “TODAY, I will be sending federal law enforcement and the National Guard to Kenosha, WI to restore LAW and ORDER!” During the protest on Tuesday, two people were killed and one person was injured in a shooting. An arrest was made on Wednesday when a video came out of a 17-year-old opened fire with a rifle in the middle of the protest. (U.S. News)

8. Hospitals seeks high-risk patients for vaccine trial – Daar and his colleges at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center on Wednesday announced that they will be enrolling to do a trial to test  Covid vaccine made by AstraZeneca. Their plan is to test 500 high risk patients that are over 65 with the vaccine. 25% of Blacks and 37% of Hispanics are less likely to seek the vaccination compared to the 56% of whites that would want to receive the vaccine. 9. Climate change is a health crisis – The virus isn’t the only thing challenging the health care system these days. Climate change is the most invisible enemy we are facing right now. Not many people know realize its going on. Climate change has the potential to cause more deaths and sickness along with the coronavirus. Health care’s greenhouse made up 10% of the U.S. total in 2013. Not to mention the heat waves that are a potential threat to us. The U.S. is fighting to find new ways to fight climate change each year. (U.S. News)

10. 14 dolphins die near Japanese ship’s oil spill – Environmental experts say about 14 dead dolphins have washed up on the shore of the Indian Ocean island in Mauritius. A Japanese ship was going around spilling over 1,000 tons of fuel into the ocean killing these dolphins. Other dolphins have been washing up not dead but severely ill from the fuel. There have also been dolphins found bellied up in the ocean with the same cause of death. (New York Post)

11. China fires ‘carrier killer’ missile is disputed sea – China’s military test-fired two missiles into the South China Sea. It is suggested that this may have been made to attack U.S. forces. The missiles DF-26B and DF-21D were fired Wednesday and were targeted between the southern island province of Hainan and the Paracel Islands. The DF-26B is believed to target the U.S. aircraft carriers that would be a potential conflict to China. (Military Times)

12. Typhoon barrels into N. Korea after causing damage in South – In Sehoul, South Korea a typhoon went through the Korean Peninsula on Thursday. Bavi had a maximum wind of 83 miles per hour when it made landfall. Footage showed snapped trees and utility poles. Houses and public facilities in North Hwanghae and South Hwanghae provinces where the typhoon touched ground. Power was finally restored to more than 9,300 South Korean homes, along with 3,500 in cities and towns near Seoul and about 900 in the southern island of Jeju. (News 7 KWWL)

13. 2020 Emmys will be like never before thanks to Covid-19 – Being less than a month away from this year’s Emmy Awards ceremony, it has been told that it is going to be quite a bit different than past years. Jimmy Kimmel and his team are determined to make the Emmys just as spectacular as the years before. Although this year’s Emmys will be virtual, it will be filmed at the usual venue at Hollywood’s Microsoft Theatre. The Staples Center is allowing the Emmys team to set up their equipment to broadcast the live stream from celebrities’ homes across the world. (REFINERY29)

14. TikTok CEO Kevin Mayer resigns after three months amid Trump’s ban threat – President Trump threatened to ban TikTok kin 90 days unless it was bought out by a U.S. company. It is believed that the apps Byte and TikTok are collecting user data and it could be used to China’s advantage if they got their hands-on information that could help them in their ruling of the Communist party against the U.S. After TikTok started fighting back they couldn’t fight it anymore and CEO, Kevin Mayer resigned. 15. NBA postpone all games after players refuse to play over Jacob Blake shooting – NBA announced Wednesday that they are choosing to postpone all three playoff games that were scheduled. The Bucks decided not to play in Game 5 of their Series after the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The NBA along with many other teams are postponing their games until justice is served for the shooting of this innocent boy. The NBA has said that there has been no change or action done since the shooting, so they want to focus on this now and basketball at a later time. ABC News)
